ANDRITZ Sundwig S6-high rolling mill - next generation

S6-high rolling mills are multi-roll rolling mills with relatively small work rolls. Their area of application is between that of a conventional 6-high and a 20-high rolling mill.

The diameter of the S6-high work roll is only around 40% of the diameter of a 4-high work roll and is roughly only twice as large as that of 20-high work rolls. In order to prevent horizontal deflection of the work rolls during rolling operations, these rolls are supported at the sides (Supported 6-high).

S6-high rolling mills are used as high-performance reduction mills for low, medium to high strength materials or as 4-high/S6-high combination mills in which the thickness of materials with low to medium strength can be reduced in 4-high mode and which can also be used as a skin-pass or temper mill. These options create maximum flexibility and versatility.

S6-high rolling mills are operating successfully all over the world, both as reversible rolling mills as well as inline in combination with processing lines with one or more stands.
